ABOUT
I am professor of Economics at the Department of Economics at Stockholm University
My research interests lie in applied microeconomic theory. Areas of special interest to me include industrial organization, competition policy and the housing market as well as social norms and economic behavior. Between 2018 and 2024 I was head of the department and partly devoted to university duties. I currently teach a course in contract theory on the undergraduate level and industrial organization at the masters level.Â
Between 2008 and 2012 I served as Chief Economist at the Swedish Competition Authority. Before that served as economic expert for the Stockholm City Court, and as a member of the Market Court, an appeals court. Since 2012 I have occasionally provided advice and expert testimony in comptition related matters and damage claims.
I have been a member of the school of social science at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton and a visiting scholar at Stanford University.
My current research projects concern competition on vertically integrated platforms and self preferencing, and the interplay between inequality and evolution of pro-social preferences. Output from the former include a book chapter and a working paper, both joint with Martin Mandorff, "Innovation and competition on digital platforms" and "Self Preferencing and Price Squeeze".
I am currently involved in a policy report about measuring competition for the Swedish Competition Authority, participate in a reference group for a government inquiry on new competition tools and serve at the SNS recearch council. Earlier policy contributions include digitalization and competition (in Swedish), and housing prices, construction costs and competition.
